A sparkling future for Granite Belt, with Sirromet’s latest Gold and Silver award wins
Queensland’s largest winery, Sirromet, has further cemented its presence on the international wine scene, taking home Gold and Silver awards at the 2016 Mundus vini International Wine Awards and Chardonnay du Monde Wine Awards. Locally, the winery has swooped in to claim Gourmet Traveller Wine’s Best Cellar Door Brisbane for a consecutive year, and Wine Showcase Magazine’s New Release Gold-5 Star Rating for its Signature Collection Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay, Shiraz Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon. The latest award haul brings Sirromet’s tally to more than 840 prestigious national and international awards since opening its doors in 2000. Sirromet Chief Wine Maker, Adam Chapman, has more than 30 years viticulture experience working in both Australia and France, and said Granite Belt wines were finally gaining the attention and admiration they deserve. “Sirromet’s focus is on developing premium wines and continuously looking for ways in which we can push the boundaries and remain industry leaders,” Adam said.
