NOSE: Small red berry fruits, spice, hints of white pepper and floral cassis.
PALATE: A soft, fruit-driven Shiraz in the medium-bodied style. Sweet briar fruit, toasty mocha, fresh berries, with textural hints of vanilla, spice, cloves, subtle oak influences and fine powdery tannin.
WINEMAKING COMMENTS: Fruit for the 2014 Shiraz was sourced from Blks 26 & 3 in our Seven Scenes vineyard. The fruit was cold soaked prior to fermentation in tank before ageing briefly in American oak for spicy complexity. A small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon included in the final blend contributes hints of cassis and a structural elegance to the wine. This fruit-driven style is very drinkable now but will also reward cellaring in the medium term.
