Quantity:
Description
Montepulciano is a red wine grape variety grown widely in central Italy, most notably its eastern Abruzzo, Marche and Molise regions. The variety was named after the Tuscan parish of Montepulciano, but, confusingly, is not used in the famous wines produced there (see Vino Nobile di Montepulciano).
REGION: Granite Belt, Queensland & Riverland, South Australia.
NOSE: Gorgeously fragrant, blueberry notes and jammy crushed red berries with soft subterranean spices.
PALATE: Soft and rich, jammy red and black berries crushed with soft spices and just a hint of vanilla. Inky purple toned with black cherry and cassis, against a backdrop of soft, powdery tannins.
DID YOU KNOW? Montepulciano (‘Mon-ta-pull-channo’) is a medium-bodied red wine grape originating in central Italy and the second most planted red grape in Italy (after Sangiovese).
FOOD MATCHING: Try with herb & garlic marinated lamb.
