Wellington Point Farm

Supplying Sirromet with strawberries since opening in 2001, Wellington Point farm, just 12kms from Sirromet winery, operates on 24 acres of original farmland producing a range of seasonal fruit and vegetables including their famous strawberries.

Wellington Point Farm

The unique volcanic red soil and micro climate of the Redlands is at the heart of the Wellington Point farm’s success. With 5 different varieties and 24 thousand strawberry plants as well as an abundance of tomatoes, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, silver beet and zucchini, the farms emphasis is on sustainable farming practices, quality, freshness and flavour.

Wellington Points farm manager Adrian Lynch says “We’ve been supplying Sirromet strawberries since the day it opened and are proud to have our produce showcased on the menu at one of the Redlands most iconic tourism destinations “

With a like-minded ethos, Sirromet’s recently appointed Executive Chef Mathew Fulford is passionate about forging greater connections with the people and places who supply produce for his dishes, ensuring food is grown as close to its natural state and with as few food miles as possible.

“We have such an abundance of amazing fresh, local produce on our door step, I just love foraging and creating dishes that showcase produce in the best possible way.” Said Mat Fulford

Restaurant Lurleen’s cutting-edge menu is centred around seasonality, showcasing native and heirloom (lessor known varieties), educating diners on the geography and origins of its produce and reconnecting with its winery heritage by providing wine pairing recommendation for each dish.

“The dining experience has evolved from more than just food on a plate, consumers want to know where their produce comes from and that it is being produced locally and as sustainable as possible.” Said Mat

“I have noticed people increasingly visiting the farm just to see it growing. That’s why the packing area is in the shop, so people can see the process.” Said Adrian

Farming the old-fashioned way, Wellington Point farm currently have 13 acres under cultivation, rotating crops with the seasons for best flavour and yield. A small team hand-pick each morning and predominately sell direct to the consumer from their onsite shop.

“I love growing strawberries in particular, not only because they are everyone’s favourite but I love seeing the excitement when someone tastes a delicious, freshly picked farm grown strawberry “Said Adrian
