Sirromet wins Gold and Silver at international awards show
Queensland’s largest winery, Sirromet, has cemented its presence on the international wine scene, taking home nine Gold and Silver awards at the 2015 German International Wine Show and Austrian Wine Challenge. The latest award haul brings Sirromet’s tally to more than 800 prestigious national and international awards since opening its doors 15 years ago. Sirromet Chief Winemaker, Adam Chapman, credits the award win to the distinct soil, climate and vine balance exclusive to the Granite Belt region. “At 820m of elevation, Sirromet’s vineyards are planted in decomposed granite with deep clay sub-soils, allowing the fruit to gain great regional flavours unique to this part of the world,” he said. “The distinct flavour of the Granite Belt is exceptional and needs to be tasted to be believed. Fortunately for us, the critics think so too.” Sirromet is passionate about putting Queensland’s wine on the world stage - attracting more than 300,000 visitors to its winery annually. “The continued evolution of our wines is a credit to the craftsmanship of our winemaking and viticulture team,” Mr Chapman said. “Sirromet’s Granite Belt wine’s are world-class and a must try for anyone who appreciates a premium drop.” GOLD 2012 Sirromet LM Cabernet Merlot Petit Verdot - German International Wine Show 2012 St Jude’s Road Grand Reserve Merlot - Austrian Wine Challenge 2013 Le Sauvage Viognier - Austrian Wine Challenge SILVER 2012 Signature Collection Chardonnay - Austrian Wine Challenge 2014 Vineyard Selection Pinot Gris - Austrian Wine Challenge 2012 PC LM Reserve Assemblage - Austrian Wine Challenge 2013 SC Cabernet Sauvignon - Austrian Wine Challenge 2013 SC Shiraz Viognier - Austrian Wine Challenge 2009 SC Pinot Noir Chardonnay (sold out) - Austrian Wine Challenge Sirromet’s award winning wines can be purchased at Sirromet’s Cellar door and online at www.sirromet.com.
